Introduction to Changing Lives Together
In
the fall we will begin the Changing Lives Together Campaign. This is an
Archdiocesan wide campaign where each of the 274 parishes in the
Archdiocese of Detroit will combine their resources of time, talent, and
treasure to achieve a shared mission of strengthening parishes,
strengthening Catholic Education and Formation for our Priests,
Seminarians, and our Lay Ecclesial Ministers, and to strengthen Church
Ministry in the City of Detroit.
The
expectation for each parish is to raise at least 90 percent of the
previous year's annual offertory and holy day collections over a three
year pledge period. Seventy percent of the gifts received by the parish
will stay with the parish (ours will go towards our unpaid loan). Thirty
percent of the proceeds will support the Archbishops pastoral
initiatives listed above. Once a parish reaches its target goal for the
initiative, it will retain 100% of any additional funds raised.
The
majority of Changing Lives Together expenses will be paid by the
Archdiocese. Parishes will be responsible for some postage and expenses
for parish events. The AOD will record and process all payments and once
a month will deposit 70% of the total into our LDP account, which in
turn will go to our unpaid loan. Parishioners will have 3 years to
complete their pledges.
During
the Changing Lives Together Campaign, the annual CSA Appeal will
continue, but unlike the CSA, we get 70% of the fist dollar pledged.
